It can be easy to get caught up in the negative spiral of the daily newsfeed and think that the country is a divided place. But next weekend we will celebrate the Declaration of Independence that declares these self-evident truths:

“. . . that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

America’s greatest strengths lie in its unmatched cultural diversity, a pioneering spirit of innovation, and breathtaking natural beauty.

The US is a true melting pot where most all of us came from somewhere else to blend into a vibrant tapestry of traditions, festivals, and culinary experiences.

From the internet to medical breakthroughs and space exploration, an entrepreneurial mindset continues to push the boundaries of science, technology, and culture. Our “dream big” culture thrives on the idea that an individual can forge their own path, change careers, or start a business regardless of their background.

Our national parks and geographical diversity are staggering. From sea to shining sea, there are white beaches, mountains, swamps, plains, forests . . . if you don’t like where you are, just travel a bit!

We’ve been hearing news stories lately about folks from other countries visiting for the World Cup who are enjoying the friendliness, kindness, generosity, and welcoming spirit of Americans (not to mention our ranch dressing and BBQ!).

We have much to be proud of, so pursue some happiness on America’s 250th birthday!!
